Man rushed to hospital following incident

A man has been rushed to hospital following an incident in Romford.

Police were called at about 3.15am on 2 September to reports of a man with a head injury on Western Road.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended, Scotland Yard said.

The AA reported that a “emergency services incident” had closed Western Road in both directions between South Street and Mercury Gardens.

They said a detour was in operation with many bus services affected.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 03.12am today to reports of an incident on Western Road, Romford.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a medic in a fast response car.

“We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a hospital as a priority.”

A Met spokesperson added: “The man was taken to hospital; we await an update on his condition.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
