Artist Feature: Arthur Koldomasov

Our artist of the week this week is Arthur Koldomasov, who talks to us about his music and new single “Late Night Train” …

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I am trying to be a person who is using every possible avenue for the positive impact. No matter what it is – studies, analytics, activism, political work, or art. Art can be a driver for change and that is why I am obsessed with my upcoming third album.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

Music has always surrounded my life. I went to the Art School earlier than to the regular one. And even now, when I need to process very difficult things, music helps me ease my mind and keep calm.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

As a kid in Eastern Europe, my childhood has been packed with the local artists singing from the radio. Later on, Eurovision Song Contest added another layer and sparker an interest in Western pop culture. Because of its fan community that I joined when I was 12, I met another fan there who introduced me to the Scandinavian pop and electronic music. I find it such a beautiful coincidence that we reconnected with him just before I started making my third album.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

It is a crazy mix of James Blake with Eastern European vibes and Scandinavian touch. But every song I have is quite different, still, listening to it, my experience, vision, and style are palpable.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

Currently I have released two full-length albums – “The Road of Life” (2020) and “The Lantern Distortion” (2022) together with two EPs – “Allendale” (2021) and “Schengen Visa” (2023). My latest single is called “Late Night Train” and it is the lead single for the upcoming third full studio album.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

The third album features many genres and styles, but it blends it very well into one story which shines in the modern social context. You can hear the contemporary music trends here together with some brass elements, pop-rock, alternative, and even neo-perreo influences. I listen to many musical genres and this album has been influenced by the sound of such diverse artists as The Fray, James Blake, Sabrina Claudio, and Paramore. I wanted to do something classy, but different. It will all make sense when the concept of the album will be made public.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

I would love to collaborate with Dua Lipa or Jorja Smith or James Blake. I also love ROSALIA. But I am also open to collaborating with many indie or underground artists. It is not about the fame, it is about the vision.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to finish making the album, because I am caring a lot about every single detail regarding this body of work. More music in the future? I guess so!

Where can we find out more about you?
