Arrests after baby found dead in Harold Hill

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a baby was found dead in Harold Hill.

Metropolitan Police were called at 7.40pm on Tuesday to an address in Mimosa Close after reports for concerns of the welfare of a baby.

Officers found the body of a baby at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force has told the Recorder that a man and a woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident.

Both are currently being held in custody.

A crime scene has been put in place and images on social media showed a police cordon behind Straight Road.

Despite the arrests, the spokesperson said that at this time the death is being treated as unexpected and under investigation.

Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
